Date: 2nd June 2012
Venue: Kuala Kubu Bharu
On 2nd June 2012, a Follow-up Activity Project was conducted. We returned to Taman Sinar Harapan, the home for some 215 disabled residents in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor. It was a very meaningful, emotional and eventful visit. The Lions, Leo & Lion Club’s Family members & friends of the Lions Club also joined in and were all touched to see the plight and condition of the inmates. The inmates inspired us with their determination and perseverance to live normal lives despite their handicap. We donated 600 diapers & bath towels to the home.
Project: Orang Asli Project
Date: 2nd June 2012
Venue: Kuala Kubu Bharu
In our quest to reach out to new segments of society, we the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh undertook to visit the Kampung Orang Asli Buluh Telur at Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor on Saturday, 2nd June 2012, together with Lions’ family members.
A settlement of 35 families comprising some 130 Orang Asli (Malay for “natives”) have occupied this area for more than one hundred years. The Orang Asli live simply, without the trappings of modern society. They hunt for meat and grow their own greens. We donated essential food items and used clothes. Our objective is to show a caring attitude and concern, also to look into the day to day needs of these people.
