The enthusiasm among those present clearly displayed their love for this Project and their awareness about how this simple effort tremendously helped the environment in so many ways. We love this project as planting is an act of putting down roots and contributing to the future. Ng District Governor 2011-2012 to certify that all are qualified as a Lion Mentor.
Overview
The objective of the Lions Mentoring Program is to help every member achieve the goal of better serving his or her community. It does so through a program of personal development that helps members realize the potential that their unique skills and knowledge offer. The Mentoring program prepares them for leadership in clubs, in the association and in their personal lives as well. For Lions Clubs International, this means more hands and better service for the people who need it most.
The Lions Mentoring Program is completed in two parts, basic and advanced. Each part is completed in two levels.
Basic Mentoring
Level One, The Responsibility of Being a Lion: The first level of the Basic Mentoring Program is devoted to developing an understanding of who Lions are, their vision of humanitarian service, the traditions, the organizational structure and the responsibility of being a Lions club member. It should be a goal of every club that all new Lions complete the level one in their first three months of membership.
Level Two, Relationships: The second level of the Basic Mentoring Program is for developing relationships and organizational skills in preparation for leadership at the club level. Level two should be completed in the new Lion’s first six months of membership.
Advanced Mentoring
The goals of the Lions Advanced Mentoring Program are to see results and to provide replication.
Level One, Results: The emphasis of this level is upon developing accountability for results by focusing on community projects and programs that provide useful and needed humanitarian service. Completion of this level provides a stepping-stone for accepting a leadership role within the club.
Level Two, Replication: This level concentrates on the mentee’s role in developing others for leadership in the association and for humanitarian service. It ensures long-range growth and can serve as a basis for leadership within the district structure. This phase can be augmented with additional training at district level and at area forums.

Lions Club Collaborates With Police In Crime Prevention

An MOU was signed between the Police and The Lions Club to work together in increasing awareness among the Public about Crime Prevention. Interestingly, the Police see the Lion's Club as a Champion of The Society's Well-being, while they champion the cause of ensuring the society's safety and security.

The CPO of Selangor therefore invited Representatives from the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh to join in the "Crime Awareness Day" that was held on Saturday, 19th November, 2011 from 2pm-4.30pm at the Khemah Utama Jalan PJU 7/2 (between The Curve/IKEA), at The Curve Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The Lions Club is proud to be recognized by the Police for its influence in Community Service and its potential to Collaborate with the Police in organizing “Crime Awareness and Crime Prevention” Exhibitions, Talks and other relevant Activities that can boost the security and safety of society. On a similar note, we were also asked to consider creating awareness about Reducing Crime Rates and Increasing Road Safety. These are challenges for the Lions Club to work on in future Projects. Fortunately, we are not alone, knowing that we have the Police Force eager to collaborate with the club and make such efforts a grand success.

Lions at Prison II - Message from Prison

Project : Lions at Prison II - Message from Prison
Date : 19th November 2011 (Saturday)
Time : 8am-1pm
Venue: Sungai Buloh Prison

Lions Club Joins In Effort To Rehabilitate Prisoners
Representatives from the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh were invited for a Special Briefing at Sungai Buloh Prison on 19/11/2011 (Saturday) from  8am-1pm to get a closer look at the On-going Efforts and Forthcoming Projects by the Prison to Rehabilitate Prisoners and help prepare them for Re-Entry into Society upon their Release.

The Lions Club was urged to join in the effort to educate Teenagers and Youths on the consequences of crime and how their life and potential of a bright future can all be destroyed due to ONE MOMENT OF MADNESS OR AVOIDABLE COSTLY MISTAKES.

The Prison Officials as well as the prisoners gave various sharings urging society to also join in the task of educating the general public “that crime does not pay!” It was an eye-opener for our Representatives to listen first-hand what Prisoners underwent in Prison, their problems, needs, regrets  and yearning to start afresh! The Prisoners often faced discrimination and rejection from their family and society and this puts additional pressure on starting fresh and many are pushed to the edge and fall again into crime.

They need our support, understanding and willingness to give them a second chance. Will we?
