To instill the value of peace in a most creative way among the younger generation, the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh organized the aforesaid Contest in cooperation with Sri Suria School for the second year. More than 200 students from standard 5 & 6 expressed their concept of peace and harmony in such an impressive way that left the Judges having a difficult time deciding on the Top 3 Winners and 5 deserved the Consolation Prizes.The school’s headmaster, teachers and students were grateful that our Club can make this as an Annual Event.

FREE Health Talk & Health Screening

Project: "FREE Health Talk & Health Screening"

Lions Club of Sungai Buloh jointly organized a "FREE Health Talk & Health Screening" Project with Tropicana Medical Centre (TMC) at the Warga Emas Club House on 25th September 2011. There was a very encouraging response from more than 60 senior citizens who participated in this Health Talk and Screening Session.

The Health Talk was started off by Dr. Soong Kean Leong, (Consultant Orthopaedic, Traumatology Arthroplastry & Sport Injury Surgeon) from TMC. He shared valuable insights about Osteoarthritis and Management of Back Pain and Knee Protection.
This was followed by another Talk on the 10 Early Warning Signs & Symptoms of Cancer – emphasizing on stomach & large intestine cancer. It was presented by Dr Kwan Keat Leong, Consultant General & Gastrointestinal Surgeon, also from TMC.

This Project gave these citizens useful medical direction and warm reminders about these two dreaded diseases. Huge credit definitely is due to Tropicana Medical Centre for sending such a great team to be of great service to society. We hope that by imparting the knowledge to them, The Lions Club has helped initiate yet another Project to help improve the quality of life for Seniors in particular and the nation at large.

Zoo Treat For Orphans By Lions and Leo Clubs

Once again, Syabas to the Lions Club for a successful Joint Project involving Lions Club of Sungai Buloh and Leo Club, SMK Seafield. Their excellent collaborative effort named, “Lions & Kids at Zoo” brought about a most memorable and joyful experience for the children of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai (YM) of Selangor. The Outdoor Funday at Zoo Negara was truly unforgettable for the contingent of 17 adults and 44 children, especially since it was their first time going on a Guided, Educational Tram Ride and witnessing a Seal and Sea Lion Fancy Tricks Show. All in all, the trip was a most exciting one that paved the way for greater interaction, teamwork and fellowship between the Lions and Leo Clubs. In conjunction with Merdeka Day, we also gave out some National Flags to the kids to usher in the Merdeka Celebrations. It was a fun and great ending at Mc Donald’s for lunch.
