Lions Club of Sungai Buloh once again jointly organized a "Health Forum & FREE Health Screening" Project with Tropicana Medical Centre (TMC) at  a Health Forum held at SJK (C) On Pong 2, Pandan Mewah (Opposite Hospital Ampang), on Sunday, 20th May, 2012, from 9.30am - 12.30pm. More than 100 residents from Ampang participated in this Health Forum and Screening Session. With the help of the MP for Pandan, Dato Seri Ong Tee Keat, Bangkit Klinik Mobile, provided health screening and some clinical services to those present for FREE!

The Health Forum began with 2 Input Sessions in Mandarin by Dr Gan, a Gastroenterologist and Internal Physician from Tropicana Medical Centre, in Kota Damansara. Dr. Gan is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist, widely reputed for his skills and has been fully gazetted by the Ministry of Health as a Gastroenterologist and Internal Medicine Physician. With extensive fellowship training at renowned centres in Malaysia, Australia and Japan, Dr. Gan has been much sought after for his skills and experience in all form of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures such as Upper endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, stenting, PEG, dilatation, polypectomy, EMR, manometry, pH - Impedance study, and haemostasis of GI bleed. He also has extensive experience in managing liver cases such as cirrhosis, fatty liver, Hepatitis B and C. His research works have been presented both locally and internationally and he has also obtained numerous awards and recognition internationally. Currently, Dr. Gan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Tropicana Medical Centre.

This Project gave these residents useful medical direction and warm reminders about these two dreaded diseases. Huge credit definitely should be given to Tropicana Medical Centre for sparing such a great Doctor to be of significant service to society. We hope that by imparting his knowledge to the public, The Lions Club has helped initiate yet another Project that improved the quality of life for residents of Ampang in particular and the nation at large.

Wesak Day Charity Sales

Project: Wesak Day Charity Sales
Date: 5th May 2012
Time: 9.00am ~4.00pm
Venue:  Subang Jaya Buddhist Association

Wesak FundRaiser By Lions & Leo Brings Cheer To Subang Jaya's Disabled Children Association
Buddha spoke one last time "ALL CREATIONS ARE IMPERMANENT; work diligently for your liberation"! After pronouncing these final words, Buddha went into the jhana stages, or meditative absorptions. Going from level to level, one after the other, ever deeper and deeper, he reached ecstasy. Then he came out of the meditative absorption for the last time and passed into Nirvana, leaving nothing whatsoever behind that can cause rebirth again in this or any other world. This happened in 483 BC on a full moon day in the month of May, known in the Indian calendar as Wesak. After his death, Buddha's remains were cremated.

During this year's auspicious day of Wesak, we celebrate Lord Buddha's attainment of Enlightenment, and His passing into Mahaparinibbana.

The Members of the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh, with the help from the Members of the Leo Club of Seafield had A Charity Sale at the Temple during this Wesak Day on 5/5/2012 from 9.00am to 3.00pm at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association. We sold Organic Vegetables, Fruits, Cookies, Cakes & other food to raise Funds for the Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya Subang Jaya, Selangor (Subang Jaya Disabilities Children Association). We succeeded in raising more than RM2500.00 from this Project!
