Project : Kids Charity Movie Show 2011
Date : 26th November 2011 (Saturday)
Time : 11.00am-2.00pm
Venue: TGV Cinema, Sunway Pyramid

Once again, Syabas to the Lions Club for a successful Joint Project involving Lions Club of Sungai Buloh and Lions Club of Sunway with help from Leo Club. Their excellent collaborative effort named, “Kids Charity Movie Show” brought about a most memorable and joyful experience for the children from 4 Orphanage Homes. The Outdoor Funday at Sunway TGV Cinema was truly unforgettable for the contingent of 30 Adults and 120 children, especially since it was their first time going on a Cartoon Movie Show, “Puss in Boots”. All in all, this Project was truly exciting and paved the way for greater interaction, teamwork and fellowship between the Lions and Leo Clubs. In addition to all these, we also gave each child a Goodies Bag as an early Christmas Present. We are confident that their outing at the Sunway TGV Cinema had been fun-filled and will remain in their memory for a long, long time!

Lions Club Collaborates With Police In Crime Prevention

An MOU was signed between the Police and The Lions Club to work together in increasing awareness among the Public about Crime Prevention. Interestingly, the Police see the Lion's Club as a Champion of The Society's Well-being, while they champion the cause of ensuring the society's safety and security.

The CPO of Selangor therefore invited Representatives from the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh to join in the "Crime Awareness Day" that was held on Saturday, 19th November, 2011 from 2pm-4.30pm at the Khemah Utama Jalan PJU 7/2 (between The Curve/IKEA), at The Curve Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The Lions Club is proud to be recognized by the Police for its influence in Community Service and its potential to Collaborate with the Police in organizing “Crime Awareness and Crime Prevention” Exhibitions, Talks and other relevant Activities that can boost the security and safety of society. On a similar note, we were also asked to consider creating awareness about Reducing Crime Rates and Increasing Road Safety. These are challenges for the Lions Club to work on in future Projects. Fortunately, we are not alone, knowing that we have the Police Force eager to collaborate with the club and make such efforts a grand success.

Lions at Prison II - Message from Prison

Project : Lions at Prison II - Message from Prison
Date : 19th November 2011 (Saturday)
Time : 8am-1pm
Venue: Sungai Buloh Prison

Lions Club Joins In Effort To Rehabilitate Prisoners
Representatives from the Lions Club of Sungai Buloh were invited for a Special Briefing at Sungai Buloh Prison on 19/11/2011 (Saturday) from  8am-1pm to get a closer look at the On-going Efforts and Forthcoming Projects by the Prison to Rehabilitate Prisoners and help prepare them for Re-Entry into Society upon their Release.

The Lions Club was urged to join in the effort to educate Teenagers and Youths on the consequences of crime and how their life and potential of a bright future can all be destroyed due to ONE MOMENT OF MADNESS OR AVOIDABLE COSTLY MISTAKES.

The Prison Officials as well as the prisoners gave various sharings urging society to also join in the task of educating the general public “that crime does not pay!” It was an eye-opener for our Representatives to listen first-hand what Prisoners underwent in Prison, their problems, needs, regrets  and yearning to start afresh! The Prisoners often faced discrimination and rejection from their family and society and this puts additional pressure on starting fresh and many are pushed to the edge and fall again into crime.

They need our support, understanding and willingness to give them a second chance. Will we?

Lions' World Sight Day

Improving Sight, Brightening Lives!
Project: Eye Screening Project 2011
Date: 1st -3rd November 2011 (Tuesday~Thursday)
Venue: SRJK(C) Sungai Buloh
What Is Lions World Sight Day?
Lions World Sight Day (LWSD), was created to recognize and reinforce the importance of eradicating preventable blindness, and is held annually on the second Thursday of October. Lions Clubs around the world are encouraged to participate by sponsoring local activities and programs, either on Lions World Sight Day or some time during October, to educate their communities about the need to conquer preventable blindness and preserve sight.
The Lions Club of Sungai Buloh organised this EYE SCREENING for the SRJK Sungai Buloh School students in conjunction with the Lions World Sight Day. More than 1655 students benefited from this Eye Screening Check & Eyecare Project. This screening was conducted from 8.00am to 5.00pm and it took three days to complete the screening for all the School's students. We also sponsored 50 pairs of spectacles to the needy school children. The school teachers & students were so grateful that The Lions Club could arrange this highly beneficial Eye Screening Project.
